There are over 250 natural burial sites in the UK. All are run following environmentally friendly principles. Some are privately owned and run; others are within the jurisdiction of the local authority either as part of their cemetery or at another site, whereas others are in dedicated nature reserves or woodlands.
The world of natural burial is very varied, and largely unregulated, but those sites that belong to the Association of Natural Burial Grounds are all bound by their Code of Conduct, aimed at ensuring the highest professional and environmental standards.
